《中庸》英译文本与译者写作文本定量对比研究

A Quantitative and Contrastive Analysis of the Translation Texts of Zhongyong and Their Translators’ Creative Writings

文章基于25个《中庸》英译本,利用在线文本分析工具Coh-Metrix 3.0和Microsoft Word的可读性分析功能对其英译文本和译者写作文本的可读性及其分项指标(叙事性、句法简易性、词汇具象性、指示衔接和深层衔接)进行量化对比分析,量化译文接受指标。研究发现,《中庸》英译文本相比译者写作文本过于简单,与目标语读者阅读水平不相匹配。

Based on the 25 English versions of Zhongyong,this paper conducts a quantitative and contrastive study on the readability and other features(narrativity,syntactic simplicity,word concreteness,referential cohesion,and deep cohesion)of the target texts and the creative writings of the translators concerned using the online text analyzing tool Coh-Metrix 3.0 and the Microsoft Word.It finds out that,compared with the writings of the translators,the target texts are generally much easier to read,with a readability level much lower than the reading ability of the supposed target readers.
