As one of the best contemporary Chinese essayists, Qin Mu has received great popularity in the reading public both at home and abroad. His writings are characterized by a peculiar charm which combines his wisdom and profound knowledge, interesting and instructive episodes with the communist spirit, good taste, and moral values. This paper attempts to make a study into his prose style, the main key suggested in his works and the three stages of development in formation of his literary creation. It is hoped that this article may serve as a useful guide to young amateurs.
