This paper introduces the fundamental conception of CAD techniques and presents the situation of fits applications. The authors think that the reason for the defects of CAD techniques is that it lacks knowledge representation and inference mechanism. This paper explains the definition, composition and applications of ES techniques, and predicts the tendency of CAD technique development. In terms of analysing the applications of ES and CAD techniques of our country, this paper points out that the adoption of the ES techniques in CAD is not only necessary but also possible so that ES techniques may be given adequate attention.
