A Preliminary Study on Chen Pai Sha' s Educational Thoughts

本文论述陈白沙的教育活动,特别是他的教育思想,主要是包括他对教育,尤是对基础教育的重视和对教育作用的看法;对学生进行德育的主要内容;关于科学的学习方法的内容及其应用;因材施教等等。全文既充分肯定了陈白沙教育思想中可供今人学习和借鉴之处;同时也指出了其历史局限性和不足的地方。

After reading the works of Chen Shianzang (alias Chen Pai sha) . The author of this article systematically and substantially expounds Chen Pai Sha's educational activities including chiefly Chen's view on the function of education such as how to enforce moral education how to implement the scientific ways of learning, how to understand the students and how to suit the teaching method to their ability and acceptability. The article highly evaluates those points of Chen's educational thoughts which are applicable to today's problem and worth learning from but also points out their certain deficiencies and its limitations of the times.
