艾丽丝·门罗的小说《唯余收割者》的突出特点是对长诗《女郎夏洛特》的引用、模仿和改写。通过与前文本中的人物、情节和主题进行对照,可以发现这种互文性造成了小说标题"Save the Reaper"的多重含义。小说展现了年轻女性的自由放纵、中年女性的谨小慎微以及老年女性的老无所依,而其标题的内涵也发生着相应的变化。其中既有作者的讥讽与批判,也有其同情和怜悯,蕴含了门罗对老、中、青三代女性生活方式的深刻反思,反映了门罗对女性生存状况的普遍关怀。
One of the features of Munro's Save the Reaper is the allusion, imitation and parody of thepoem The Lady of Shallot. A comparison of the twotexts' character, plot and theme reveals that this intertextuality leads to the multiple meanings of the title. Connotations of the title Save the Reaper vary in therepresentation of women's self-indulgent youth, reticent middle age and dispossessed old age. In thinkingover the lives of the three female generations, AliceMunro has conveyed her irony and criticism as well ascompassion and sympathy, which implied her generalconcern over women's living conditions at present.
