契诃夫通过对人类生活的苦难与折磨、庸俗与无聊、虚伪与愚蠢等的深刻描绘,揭示了人类本身精神的痛苦与迷茫,其中包含着对人的复杂本性的挖掘,其思想直接指向人类的内心世界,叩问的是纯粹的人性。相比较而言,爱丽丝·门罗对生活的描写则更注重细节,对人类共同的生活常态的描写使其作品更具有浓缩性,对凡俗生活叙事的广度能够使其在对人类灵魂的探究方面达到相当的深度和具有强烈的敏感性。
A.Chekhov revealed human beings' spiritual pain and confusion as well as excavated their complicated nature through profound depiction of human life's suffering and torment, vulgarness and boringness, hypocrisy and foolishness, pointing his thoughts to human's inner world and inquiring pure nature of human beings. Comparatively speaking, Alice Munro stressed more on description of people's daily details. On the one hand, her words on human's common normal life statements make the work more condensed. On the other hand, the narrative breadth on worldly life enables her to reach considerably depth and feature strong sensitivity in the aspect of exploring the soul of human beings.
