A Survey of Chinese Bible Translations in Contexts of Christianity and Non-Christian Circle

圣经中译本在中国教会目前已基本固定在基督教新教所用'和合本'圣经和天主教所用'思高本'圣经,教会人士将之视为具有权威性的经典汉译本。多种圣经新译本却并没有获得教会的普遍承认,而只是在教界和学界之间的边缘领域闪现其存在。这一现象非常值得研究。实际上,诠释经典已经远远走在了重新汉译圣经的前面。为此,在教会传统之外的学界似乎可以大胆尝试,推出学术版的全新圣经中译本。其质量之度的把握则在于既信守圣经原典的语言真义和思想精神,也要有现代语言的鲜活和当代解读的新意。

The Union Version and the Sigao Version are respectively accepted and taken as the Bible of authority for the Christian Church and for the Catholic Church.The fact should be an issue for discussion that the new Chinese translations of the Bible published later are not generally recognized by the Chinese Christian circle,and they are just Chinese Bible versions existing in the bordering area between Chinese Christianity and academic circle.In fact,interpreting the scriptures has been on the way ahead of re-translating of the Bible.Therefore,it is due time when Chinese scholars and translators make joint efforts to prepare a new and brand translation of the Bible that is based on academic findings but not necessarily in accordance to the Christianity versions.Such a translation should be,in term of quality,a balance between representation of the original meaning and ethos,and vitality of modern Chinese language and interpretation.
