摘要
新中国的国家翻译实践包括'对内型'和'对外型',中国外文局的翻译活动是对外型国家翻译实践的典型代表。本文探究'制度化翻译'与'市场化翻译'之间的关系,并借助这两个概念考察中国外文局,发现其在观念、体制、经费、人员上经历一系列变化,形成制度化翻译为主导,市场化翻译为辅助的翻译经营格局。该局的发展历史和模式转变充分说明了对外型国家翻译实践的特殊性,也说明了制度化翻译与市场化翻译之间互为补充的连续统一关系,二者相对但不排斥。
National translation program since the founding of People’s Republic of China included in-national translation program and out-national translation program,and the work done in China International Publishing Group(CIPG)falls into the out-national translation program.In this paper,two new terms,institutionalized translation and market-driven translation are studied.On the basis of the two concepts,this paper probes into the translation activities and practice of China International Publishing Group(CIPG)and finds out that it has experienced a series of changes in the following four aspects:concept,system,finance and personnel,which help to form a translation management pattern relying on institutional translation with market-driven translation as subsidiary.The development history and model changes of CIPG not only demonstrate the particularity of out-national translation program,but also express the continuum relation between institutionalized translation and market-driven translation.
