Magic fantasy,a branch of supernatural fiction,is characterized by its use of supernatural magic as a primary element.It originated in English gothic fiction,and didn’t come into being until George MacDonald published his novel Phantastes.The genre flourished in England in the 20th century,producing such great writers as Tolkien and Lewis.
