地方性高校大学生英语口语流利性现状研究

A Comparative Study of Spoken English Fluency of Students in Colleges Sponsored by Local Governments

本文使用全国英语专业四级口试中的即席讲话为测试内容,通过对比全国大学生英语口语语料库,从时间指标、词块指标及语法指标等三个方面研究地方性高校大学生英语口语流利性现状。研究结果表明,与全国大学生相比,地方性高校学生的英语口语流利性还存在如下几个方面的差距:非流利性停顿较多,语速偏慢,多元词为主的词块使用缺乏多样性和灵活性,T单位正确率偏低。文章在分析这些差距原因的基础上提出了在教学上应采取的一些改进措施。

Based on a comparative study of impromptu speeches in SWECCL(Spoken and written English Corpus of Chinese Learners),this paper studies spoken English fluency of students in colleges sponsored by local governments from three dimensions:time,chunks and grammar.Compared with students of other colleges,spoken English fluency of students in colleges sponsored by local governments is characterized into four aspects:1) more non-fluent pauses;2)lower speaking rate;3) less variety and flexibility in using chunks especially polywords;4)lower REFT(ratio of error-free T-units to total T-units).After analyzing the causes for the above problems,this paper puts forward some effective pedagogical suggestions.
