《边城》:伴真爱而来的生命之痛

The Border Town: The True Love Accompanied with Pains of Life

研究界认为《边城》寄寓了作者"理想的人生形式",又抒发了作者对这种人生形式遭受商业文明侵蚀而生的隐忧和哀痛。事实上《边城》还有人性或哲学上更深层的主题,即对人类婚恋中"真爱"情感的双刃剑属性的探讨。沈从文赞赏真爱,但又表达了真爱总伴着深层的生命之痛。他让真爱和生命之痛在人人善良、社会陋规最少的"边城"世界中呈现,这更显出其先天性。"美丽总是愁人的"一语是真爱带来生命之痛的另一表述。真爱及其生命之痛是召唤人类创造向上的动力。

It is well known that critics have recognized The Border Town expresses Shen Congwen’s "ideal life style" and displays worry and grief that the commercialization erodes this kind of life style. But the author holds that The Border Town has deeper meaning about the humanity or philosophy, that is the "true love" in the human marriage is like a two-edged sword. Shen Congwen appreciates the true love, but true love is always accompanied with deep pains of life, as is written in the novel. He presents the true love and pains of life together in a town without evil people and corrupted social rules. The true love becomes more congenital and it could be well expressed by the words of Shen Congwen himself: "Beauty is always distressful". The human’s creative and positive power is awaken from the true love and the pains of life accompany it. This paper analyzes the theme of the novel in a "fine biting way".
