基于语料库的中英作者范围变动型模糊限制语对比研究——以英语医学论文为例

A Corpus-Based Comparative Study of Rounders in Medical Research Articles by Native English Speakers and Chinese Speakers

范围变动型模糊限制语是模糊限制语中的一类,在医学论文中发挥着重要的作用,但英语本族语者和中国作者在使用时存在一定的差异。研究建立了一个小型的语料库,利用语料库语言学的方法,对比两族语者在具体使用上的差异。结果发现,中国作者的范围变动型模糊限制语的使用频次高于本族语作者,但在使用准确度上不如本族语者。同时也尝试解释此差异背后存在的原因。

As a type of hedges, rounders are reported to be frequently used by both native-English speakers and Chinese speakers in their papers. However, there are some differences between native-English speakers and Chinese writers in their application of rounders. Based upon a self-established micro-corpus and using corpus linguistic techniques, differences between the two groups of writers were compared in terms of the use of concrete words. Results of the study show that Chinese writers use more rounders than native English speakers. However, in terms of accuracy and idiomaticity, the former is less desirable than the latter. Some discussion is also given to the causes of the disparities.
