In the context of visual culture, the adaptation of literature is growing hot as plenty of literary works have been adapted onto the screen. However, this phenomenon also attracts the attention of academic circles. This article aims to pay attention to the adapting tactics of suspense between the two texts, one named Xun Qiang Ji, an original short story written by a writer Fan Yiping and its version-in-screen named The Missing Gun by director Lu Chuan. Through close reading, this article discloses the new problems behind the interaction of the literature via cinema, such as the discipline power from the camera and the fading away of literariness.
