Orlando: A Biography is a magnum opus of Virginia Woolf, the famous British writer in the 20 thcentury? With a fantastic and humorous style of writing as well as elaborated plots, Woolf subverted the traditional way of writing biography by designing a figure who experienced miraculous gender switching during the period of 400 years? This leaves plenty of "blanks" to be filled in by the readers and guides them to read creatively? In the meantime, readers by themselves discover the implicit plot and "negate" their original reading paradigms to form a response-inviting structure of the text? In the process of reading, readers’ self-awareness can be demonstrated, and creative reading becomes the mainstream of reading paradigms? The present paper analyzes the response-inviting structure in Orlando: A Biography in order to dig out the writing style and writing idea of Woolf, and in the meantime to emphasize the importance of creative writing?
