Translation of Chinese Prose through the Lens of Relevance Theory——Take Zhang Peiji’s Translation of Prose as an Example

As a translation theory with strong explanatory power,relevance theory has been closely linked to translation study,therefore providing a new perspective for Chinese prose translation.Apart from the translator’s translation competence,one of the most important reasons that English translation of prose by Zhang Peiji can outshine others in translation field lies in the translation theories and skills he adopts.Cognitive context and optimal relevance of this theory provides great possibility and a new dimension for the research on Zhang’s prose translation.
