Through a Darkly Glass embodies the latest development in the field of early American history in the United States. This paper reckons that the selections from the book explore the topics concerning the self exploration of personal identity and the state of marginality in the field of early American history from a perspective of micro history.Further, these selections,as a whole.not only make up for the inner defects of macro history, but also update the ideas of micro history in three aspects concerning historical narrative, close reading and linguistic turn.
