试论方以智《通雅》的训诂学成就

On Achievements in Exegesis about Fang Yizhi's《Tong Ya》

方以智小学方面最突出的成就在于训诂学。他在训诂材料的运用上,广稽金石材料、征考方言俗语、参取笔记小说;在训诂方法上,方以智最大的成就是因声求义,提出了"欲通古义,先通古音"的原则,并以此在联绵字研究、破通假字方面取得了很大成绩。

Fang Yizhi achieved a lot in exegesis. This thesis analyses his material and method. About his exegesis material, he collected the material of ancient inscriptions on bronze ware and stone tablets, and studied dialects, sayings, and the literary sketches. About his exegesis method, his greatest achievement is seeking the meaning from the sound, and he brought forward the principle-'To know the ancient meaning, one must know the ancient sound first'. He achieved a lot with this principle in looking into interchanging Chinese characters.
