Rethinking of the Nature of Traslation from the Nonexistence of Dao’ans Theory

受道安'五失本'翻译理论的启示,本文从一个新的角度探索了翻译的本质问题.依据语言之间存在的共同点、差异和缺失,提出了补偿是翻译的本质这一论点,同时列举了6种语言的对应成语和其他语言材料加以比较和说明,并提出一个有三个层次的补偿性翻译模式.

Based on Dao An's translation theory of 'five losses', this paper explores the nature of translation from a new perspective and advances the argument that compensation is the nature of translation. Equivalent example proverbs in seven languages and some other language materials are provided for comparison and illustration. In addition, a three-level compensation-oriented model built on this view is presented.
