尼尔基水利枢纽主坝以碾压式沥青混凝土心墙砂砾石坝为主,沥青混凝土心墙中心线位于坝轴线上游,心墙两侧设砂砾石过渡带。碾压式沥青混凝土心墙以及过渡带的施工是与主坝坝体填筑同步进行的。
