On the Promotion of the Quality of Civic-culture

城市文化是文化在城市这一特定空间的特殊表现样态。东西方对于文化的理解有不同的传统,这就决定了东西方城市文化的不同发展取向。由于现代城市文化展开于“工业化与城市化”命题之下,文化经济化成为现代城市文化的主要特征。提升城市文化品位必须注意自然与人文、传统与现代、物质与精神的和谐与统一。

Civic-culture is some kind of special pattern of the culture in a special place of the city. Comprehension of the culture in eastern tradition is very different from western. It decided their different developing road of the civic-culture. As modern civic-culture has been developing under the proposition of industrialization and urbanization, the main characteristic of modern civic-culture is economization of culture. To promote the quality of civic-culture, we should pay attention to the harmony among the nature and human, tradition and modern, material and spirit.
