As one kind of serial communication style at the baudrate of up to 1Mbps, CAN bus provides a reliable and high-speed communication service for the on-board calibration and real time monitoring on engine's electronic control system, and conveniently constructs communication network with the other in-vehicle control units. This paper presents the basic structure and protocol of CAN bus communication interface, and the key points of CAN bus communication's realization using the SAE J1939 protocol with the example of MC68376's on-chip CAN controller.
