On Something Between "Zongtong" and "Juntong"- A Primary discussion on the growing-up space personality in Chinese traditional society

传统社会中,宗族与专制国家间始终存在着离异和矛盾。这是一种权力分配方式,也是形成传统人格的大背景。道、法诸家虽欲从各自立场加以批判或变革,但其主张不可能成为主流话语。儒家对礼进行改造并赋予其新内容,强化了传统人格的精神内涵,但今天,传统人格面临新的挑战。

In the Chinese traditional society, there used to be alienation and contradiction between the clan (Zongtong) and monarchical state (Juntong) from beginning to end.This is a mode for power distribution and also a grand background for forming the traditional personality.Although Taoists and Legalists attempted to make criticism or transformation, their allegations were impossible to become the topic of the main trend.Confucians remolded the feudal ethics and rites and gave them new contents and intensified the spiritual connotations of the traditional personality.However, the traditional personality is confronted with new challenges today.
