摘要
美国作家福克纳一生都在不断地对小说的形式和技巧进行创新和改革 ,一往无前地拓展小说表现的新领域 ,对现代小说的发展做出了突出的贡献和创造。这些都可以在他独特的叙事艺术上得到充分的体现。他对意识流技巧和时间错置的创造性使用 ,多重叙事角度和多情节线索所形成空间上的并列对照的手法丰富了小说这一传统文学体裁时间和空间上的表现形式 ,大大拓展了现代生活表现的新领域及其复杂丰富的内涵 。
William Faulkner made great contribution to the development of modern novels by constantly experimenting with various kinds of forms and techniques in novels and daringly broadening the scope of representation of modern life. All these could be embodied in his unique narrative art. His renovative use of stream of consciousness,reversed chronological order and the spatial juxtaposition and contrast shaped by multi faceted point of views and multi lined plots have greatly enriched the forms of representation temporally and spatially in the traditional literary genre of novel so that the scope of modern life is broadened and its complicatedness revealed.
