“失语”的中医——民国时期中西医论争的话语分析

A Discourse Analysis of the Debates between Chinese and Western Medicines in the Initial Period of the Republic

新文化运动以来的中西医之争,其实是话语权之争。西化知识分子以科学主义的话语霸权妖魔化中医,而中医也不得不采用西医的术语来自辩,从而造成中医的“失语”。面对西化的主流话语,中医必须学会“隔离的智慧”才能生存。

The debate between Chinese and western medicines in the period of New Cultural Movement is basically ascribable to a struggle for the power of speech. Westernized intellectuals availed themselves of the speech hegemony of scientism to demonize Chinese medicines. Being on the defensive, Chinese medicines had to resort to their own jargons which, unfortunately, failed to appeal to a wide audience. This author is of the opinion that Chinese medicinces should acquire the so-called 'discrete wisdom' for its survival in face of the orthodoxical and domineering western medical science.
