刘邦的俗文化意识是深厚的。他继承并开创了俗信仰方面的一些内容。由于他对以楚文化为中心的南方文化的喜好和推崇,楚文化由原来区域文化的地位,提升到了与中原文化相抗衡的地步。因而汉文化,特别是汉初文化,在很大程度上继承的是楚(南方)文化。
