The 1990s has been regarded by many as a lost decade for the economy of Japan, during which period the economy of the country plunged into a long-term slump after the collapse of the bubble economy. Despite the few times of rebounding, the economy has virtually never got out of its all-time low. Since the beginning of the year 2003, the economy of Japan started to show signs of revitalization as a result of the increase of export and of social consumption and business investment. However, judging from the present situation, there are still quite a number of factors that hinder the revitalization of the country’s economy, such as the economy’s dualistic structure, the huge quantities of bad debts and the instability of the interest rate of the Japanese Yen. These three major barriers must be broken through in order for the country’s economy to keep growing in a sustained, all-round and healthy way.
