Diaoyu Island has belonged to China since ancient times. In 1895, it was looted by imperialist Japan and has been ruled by Japan since then. Since the Second World War, the dispute about its sovereignty has become complicated. However, it is an undeniable fact and a firm stand of Chinese government and Chinese people that it is a part of China's territory.
