The Significance of Press Propaganda Conducted by Cai Yuanpei at His Early Age

蔡元培的早期新闻活动对于推动辛亥革命的发生和中国近现代新闻业务的改进都起了非常重要的作用。在其出国留学前,以他为代表的革命派进行的大量报刊宣传活动使上海成为国内革命舆论的中心,其参与创办和主持的革命报刊在新闻业务方面也取得了一些成就,长期的办报经验也为他日后推动新闻教育和学术研究的开展积累了经验。

What was done in press by Cai Yuanpei from 1901-1904 was of great importance in stimulating the outbreak of the Revolution of 1911 and the development of Chinese modern press operation. Before he studied abroad, a great deal of propaganda in the newspapers done by the revolutionaries with Cai made Shanghai the center of civil public opinions about revolution. The newspapers that support revolution and created jointly by him and his friends also gained a few achievements in vocational work of press. In addition, the long-term experience in publishing newspapers accumulated plentiful experience for his later impelling journalism education and studies.
