分析《玉台新咏》与《文选》选诗相重现象,可以看出梁代文坛通变派与新变派在批评观念、审美趣味方面存在“共同语言”:一是标举情性,一是文词尚丽,两者汇成了当时文学思想的主流。如果只见二者之异而不见其同,就难以准确把握当时文学思潮的流向,当然也难以准确认识《玉台新咏》的价值。

玉台新咏(Yu Tai Xin Yong)and 文选(Wen Xuan)are both literary selections made in the Liang Dynasty (502 -557) by the Xiao brothers. who are usually regarded as leaders of two opposing literary schools. Yet a comparison of the two selections shows that some poetic works were included in either of them, which implies that the two schools really shared some aesthetic perspectives in common.
