本文主要评述新一代BASIC语言的特色和老BASIC语言的弊端.新一代BA-SIC语言可与其他高级语言相媲美.应采取措施用新一代BASIC替代老BASIC,让高校非计算机专业的BASIC教学在结构化程序设计方向上创新貌.

The distingushing features of the new generation BASIC programming language and the draw- backs of the old BASIC are commented upon. The new generation BASIC language stands compari- son with the other advanced programming languages. Effective measures should be taken to replace the old generation BASIC language with the new one, so that the BASIC language teaching of non- computer majors in colleges and univesities could be brought to a new level in terms of structured programming.
