This paper provides an overview of quality assurance in the Australian higher education sector. It begins with the review on considering the development of higher education quality assurance in Australia,particularly through the 1990s,then outlines Australia's current multi-faceted quality assurance framework. It covers the various roles of the higher education sector,such as the Commonwealth,State and Territory Governments,as well as two joint Government initiatives: the Australian Qualifications Framework and the Australian Universities Quality Agency.
