The Shapotou Control Project is the first power station where large through flow type turbine generator units were installed among the hydropower station at middle reaches of the Yellow River. There were some technical difficulties in the project design because of anti-silt and anti-friction requirements, stability requirement to the units owning to the relatively small capacity electric network. In this article, we'll introduce the design in detail about the units in this type of hydropower station for reference in the design of the same type stations.
