民国西安公私园林虽然在数量有限,但其在近代化背景下逐步具有多种功能,包括休闲游憩、广场纪念、运动健身、社交等,从而极大地丰富了民国西安的社会生活.在此基础上,公私园林中革命进步活动大量开展,主要有集会、革命动员、推广进步新观念、中共地下秘密活动、中共统战与宣传等活动.公共园林人流量大、知名度高且兼具广场功能为革命进步活动的开展提供了必要的掩护,而私家园林幽僻且风景优美,又因园林的私有性及其主人的名望革命进步活动也不时发生其间.可以说,城市近代化推动了革命进步活动的开展,而革命进步活动发生于城市园林之中又正是城市近代化的体现,二者相辅相成.

Although the public and private gardens in Xi'an in the Republic of China were limited in number,they gradually have had a variety of functions to enrich the social life in the modern times,including leisure and recreation,sports and fitness,commemoration,social intercourse etc.Therefore,at that time,a large number of revolutionary campaigns carried out in the public and private gardens such as assembly,revolutionary mobilization,and promotion of new ideas,underground activities and propaganda activities.Large flow of people and high popularity of the public gardens provided necessary protection for revolutionary activities.The privacy and the prestige of the owners of the private gardens offered a favorable place for revolutionary activities.City modernization promotesthe activities of the revolutionary progress,while revolutionary activities taking place in the city gardens is also an embodiment of city modernization,both complementing each other.
