得体性是语言运用的首要特征,是交际语言能力的核心要素,也是语言使用者或学习者语用能力的评价标准。在分析得体性起源和界定的基础上,考察不同交际语言能力框架中得体性的内涵,可发现得体性主要体现为话语是否与社会文化语境和社交语境相符合。而语用学研究将得体性视为理论构念,对得体性与语境之间关系的讨论兼顾语言语境和认知语境,认为交际活动的意向性作为最基本的语用前提,使得体性构念和语境构念合为一体。这有助于更好地理解《中国英语能力等级量表》中得体性的内涵,提高得体性子量表的效用。

Appropriateness is crucial for language use,communicative language competence,and also for assessing the pragmatic ability of language users or learners.After a concise review of its origin,definition,and connotations in communicative language competence frameworks,it can be found that appropriateness is mainly defined as to what extent the utterances accord with socio-cultural and social context while it is viewed as a theoretical construct in pragmatics focusing on all types of contexts in which the constructs of appropriateness and context are unified by intentionality.A better understanding of the connotation of appropriateness in CSE may facilitate the application of its standards in English teaching,learning,and assessment.
