An overview of translation history studies from gender perspective in the West

性别视角下的翻译史研究是性别研究与翻译史研究相结合的产物,其以独特的视角为翻译史研究开拓了新的空间,也为女性主义翻译研究的持续、深入发展提供了广阔空间。其主要研究成果包括挖掘了历史上的女译者,考察了翻译史上性别因素的再现与变形,探究了语境中的性别话语对翻译的影响和翻译对语境中性别话语的作用。随着性别视角下翻译史研究的深入,其研究涉及的文化背景日益多元,展现出多样与复杂的翻译史性别图谱。其研究不足则主要在于缺乏对研究方法的系统思考和总结,缺乏理论层面的总体构建,理论来源上较为单一,当前研究也不够平衡。

The gender perspective has brought insight into the study of translation history and enlarged its horizon in the west.It enables researchers to rediscover women translators lost in history,reveal the representation of gender-related factors in translation,and showcase the interaction between translation and gender discourse against specific historical and social contexts.Nowadays researchers in the west are studying gender-related issues not only in the English translation history but also in many other translation histories,thus presenting a more diversified discussion about how gender plays its role in translation history.The main deficiencies of the current study lie in the following aspects.Firstly,there is insufficient discussion of its theoretical and methodological framework.Secondly,the gender perspective is mainly confined to the feminist perspective,while other theoretical perspectives,such as queer studies,are largely ignored.Lastly,the studies are imbalanced in terms of research areas.
