The article introduces the phenomenon in folklore that garlic is regarded as a symbolizing sign of reproductive worship. The author tries to interpret the function of garlic pots emerged from the late Warring States period to the Western Han period. The author thinks that garlic pots have the function of being regarded as a symbol of reproductive worship and reflect that Qin state had been in urgent need of expanding population since it started the unified war in the late Warring States period.
