A Discussion of the Lacquer-drawing on the Folding Screen of Sima Jinlong Cemetery

司马金龙墓屏风漆画部分题材和构图与传顾恺之《女史箴图》《列女仁智图》相同,但在艺术水平上,前者则明显逊色很多。加之汉魏绘画技法和样式在北方长期得以保存,使得北方具备制作屏风漆画的条件。综上,本文认为屏风漆画是在北方地区自主完成的。但从服饰特点推断,该画迹又有可能受到传顾恺之《洛神赋图》的影响。

Parts of the theme and composition of the lacquer-drawing on the folding screen of Sima Jinlong Cemetery are similar to The Admonitions Scroll(女史箴图)and Wise and Benevolent Women(列女仁智图)which are likely drawn by Gu Kaizhi.However,the former one is obviously inferior on the artistic level.Moreover,the painting techniques and styles in the Han to Wei Dynasties were preserved in the Northern China constantly,which means that conditions of making lacquer-drawings on folding screens existed in the Northern China at that time.Therefore,although the lacquer-drawing could be accomplished in the Northern China independently,it still can be inferred that this lacquer-drawing on the folding screen of Sima Jinlong Cemetery was possibly influenced by The Nymph of the Luo(洛神赋图)which is also recognized as drawn by Gu Kaizhi,from the features of clothes on the drawing.
