番汉对音和上古汉语

On Xeno-Chinese Transcription

本文讨论利用番汉对音考察上古汉语音韵的条件。文章指出此类研究方法只有在考虑到以下三种情况之后才是可行的:1.正确识别相关“番语词”的原始语言,而不能盲目地以经典梵语形式解释早期汉译佛经;2.确认自己整理出的例证是代表了当时对音的普遍规律,而不能抓住一两个不知其所以然的特例去做文章;3.不能用过分的音理分析取代文献学和历史地理学的考究。

The aim of the present paper is to deal with the prerequisites for examining Archaic Chinese phonology by using the Xeno-Chinese transcription method. It is pointed out in this paper that such a method will be feasible only after the consideration of the following three conditions: 1, to accurately distinguish the original forms of the related Non-Chinese words, not to metaphor early Chinese Buddhist translations by their classical Sanskrit forms; 2, to ascertain that the data sorted out present the general transcription laws at that time, not to jump to any conclusions by a few examples unintelligible; 3, not to overemphasize the phonetic analyses in stead of the investigations of palaeography and historical geography.
