摘要
本文借助功能语言学提出的词项密度 (L D)这一量化手段评估了英语专业学生英文作文中反映的语篇能力的变化 ,调查结果表明 :1)词项密度在学生的三次作文中呈现明显差异性 ;2 )词项密度随语篇能力的发展而呈上升趋势 ;3)两个词项密度运算公式间存在正相关关系。统计结果证明词项密度可以作为有效而可靠的量化手段来评估语篇能力的发展。
The present paper intends to assess the discourse competence reflected in the compositions of the English majors by means of Lexical Density (LD), a quantitative measure developed by functionalists. The results of the empirical investigation demonstrate that: 1) there is significant difference among the LDs of the three compositions; 2) LDs grow with the development of discourse competence;3) there is positive correlation between the two measures of LDs. Such results indicate that LD is a valid and reliable means for assessment of discourse competence under controlled conditions.
