LncRNA PVT1 is an important carcinogenic long non-coding RNA,and the high expression of lncRNA PVT1 in malignant tumors suggests a poor prognosis. LncRNA PVT1 can promote the tumorigenesis and development of cancers by affecting cell proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis. Accumulating evidence has indicated that lncRNA PVT1,as a competing endogenous RNA or a molecular sponge, negatively modulates miRNA expression to promote the cancer development. Based on the critical role of lncRNA PVT1 in the pathogenesis of cancers, further study would provide a novel therapeutic target for various cancers in the future.
