龟兹风佛教艺术的特点包括内容和形式两方面。内容上主要表现释迦牟尼的前世今生,形式上包括中心柱窟、菱形格构图、色彩对比强烈、以线条为主的造型特点、晕染法以及人物的本土化。吐峪沟石窟壁画艺术受其影响并有所改变,使之适合高昌佛教的需要。

Kucha Buddhism art style includes two aspects:content and art style. In content, Kucha Buddhism art style mostly represents all kinds of stories of Sarvastivadin. In style, it embodies central-pillar cave, diamond composition, strong color-contrast, modeling by the lines, color-gradation technique and localized figure shaping.It is clear that the frescoes of Tuyoq Grottoes reclaimed the Buddhism art originated from Kucha.
