Trust serves as a supporting mechanism for the successful operation of a virtual enterprise in that it can cut down the transaction cost, reduce the management risk and improve the cooperation benefit. Elements, such as the competitive ability and credit of partners, information interexchange and economy interdependence, the existence of agreement against opportunism, affect the trust between partners to various degrees. The paper points out that several mechanisms play important roles in the establishment and development of trust between members of a virtual enterprise, which include: to select partners properly, to enhance the communication between partners through Internet and information technology, to establish effective mechanism against moral risks and to treat partners equally, etc.
