A New Study of Jinling in the Northern Wei Dynasty

北魏孝文帝之前的帝王陵墓在《魏书》里被称为"金陵"。北魏先后建都于云中、盛乐、平城和洛阳,史书里只记载有云中金陵、盛乐金陵与平城附近的金陵。笔者通过研读近代以来洛阳出土的墓志铭文发现,洛阳北魏帝陵也被称为"金陵"。由此推断,云中金陵、盛乐金陵与平城的金陵不是同一处陵墓,而是当时人对帝陵的一种习惯性的称呼。之所以会出现这种情况,是由于地名迁移所致。

Before the reign of the Emperor Xiaowen in Northern Wei Dynasty,the imperial mausoleum in Wei Book is called Jinling.Northern wei dynasty had located it′s capital on Yunzhong,Shengle,PingCheng and Luoyang consequently.There are Yunzhong Jinling,Shengle Jinling and Jinling in Pincheng recordedi n the historical books.Through the study of unearthed epitaphs found in Luoyang,the author found the epitaph of the emperor′s mausoleum of Northern Wei Dynasty can also be referred to as the Jinling.It follows that the Yunzhong Jinling and Shengle Jinling are not the same with Pingcheng tomb,but a habitual call for the emperor′s mausoleum.The reason to cause this different callings is due to the transfer of the placenames.
