David Hume's philosophy plays an important ro le in the history of the western philosophy. Firstly, it pointed out the limitation of rationalism and e mpiricism by means of skepticism, and expelled'false and adulterate metaphysic s '. It gaved the way for the creation of Kant's philosophy. Furthermore, it attem pted to erect the framework of 'the science of human nature' by means of natura l ism in order to construct 'true metaphysics'. Hume's skepticism created conditi o ns for the birth of many schools of modern western philosophy, and pioneered the road in which modern western philosophy transcended traditional philosophy.
