沉静不乏热烈,悲哀但不感伤:爱与死的审美意境──《儿子与情人》中的宗教意象鉴赏举隅

基督教从古罗马帝国以来一直深刻广泛地影响着西方世界的方方面面。西方人的内心深处普遍积淀着一种浓烈深沉的宗教情感和意识,中国大学生在与之打交道时,常常很难领略到其语言、行为中的种种意味、情趣和色彩,阅读欧美文学作品时尤其如此。本文以劳伦斯的《儿子与情人》为例,撷取其中几个与宗教意象相关的片断,用一种比较的、鉴赏的方法条分缕析,初步探讨劳伦斯象征艺术的手法和效果。

Christianity has made an enormous influence on all aspects of the West since its formation in the ancient Roman Empire,. Westerns have since their childhood developed a sort of profound religious feeling, which often makes Chinese students too difficult to grasp the implications of their words and behaviours, especially of their literature. This paper picks a few novel images concerning Christianity to analyse their functions and effects in the novel, so as to illustrate some features of Lawrence’s symbolism.
