The American dream is an ever recurring theme in American literature,in which The Great Gatsby is a classic work by Fitzgerald. This paper will attempt to explore how the title role of this book represents the American dream with its specific characteristics endowed by the age of 1920s. After an analysis of the corrupted nature of the American dream in the 1920s,the paper arrives at the conclusion that the American dream then is doomed a disillusionment.
