Ethiopia had been an old feudal empire with a long history of severalthousand years and a deep rooted feudalistic land ownership. In the prelongedstruggle in which Ethiopian people was fighting against the feudal rule ofEmperor Selassie, land problem constantly remained as a focus of the struggle.The enormous campaign for land reform launched after revolution in 1974 finallyswept away such feudal land system at one stroke. A deep examination ofEthiopian land problem and its land reform after revolution is not only helpfulfor our comprehending the nature of main social contradictions and socialchange of the state at present, but also of significance for our investigatingthe land systems in other African countries.
