中国—阿拉伯经济关系:现状与前景

ECONOMIC RELATIONS BETWEEN CHINA AND ARAB COUNTRIES:CURRENT SITUATION AND POTENTIAL FOR FURTHER DEVELOPMENT

中国同阿拉伯地区之间的友好往来已有近2000年的历史。在这2000年的时间长河中,中国同阿拉伯地区在经济、贸易、文化、技术方面有了广泛的交流,促进了双方经济、文化的发展。中华人民共和国成立以后,双方的经济关系进一步加强。目前,中国同阿拉伯地区建立了广泛的贸易关系。

The history of friendly contacts between China and the Arab world datesback to almost 2,000 years ago. During the long period, China and Arabcountries have conducted broad exchanges in economy, trade, technology andculture, which have helped each side to promote their development of economyand culture. In recent years, their economic trade and technological cooperationhas seen new progresses. The open policy which has been practised since1978 in China and the economic readjustment in Arab countries have provideda new opportunity to further promote their economic and technological coop-eration. China has so far established trade relations with most Middle East cou-ntries. In recent years, China's trade volume with oil-producing Arab count-ries has increased remarkably, Meanwhile, both sides also have developed coo-peration in finance. China received loans from kuwait and Jordan, amongwhich the Kuwait Arab Economic Development Fund had provided $220million for 9 projects in China. Both China and Arab countries have their own economic advantages,which can complement each other and can help to meet the needs of theireconomic developmeat. So, there is a big potential based on equality andmutual benefits to expand economic cooperation between them. The China-Arab economic and technological cooperation will not onlybring benefits to both sides, but also contribute to the continuing South-Southcooperation.
