For a long time, the traditional view of the brain as a non-regenerative organ has changed, and it is still capable of regeneration after injury. As an innate immune function in the central nervous system, microglial cells have attracted extensive attention in the repair of central nervous system damage. At present, more and more studies have proved that the change and activation of cell phenotype can affect the secretion of various neurotoxic and neurotrophic factors, thus playing a role of dual phase regulation. In order to understand the secretion effect more, this review summarizes the role of MG in resting and activating 2 states and the potential role of secretions in regeneration of neurons.
