摘要 国际二线ERP厂商与本土ERP厂商在中端市场上将展开激烈的争夺。 IT giants such as SAP,ORACLE often attract muchattention from the press whenthey sign contracts with theirclients. In fact, eclipsed bythese giants are some medium-sized ERP vendors, such asMAPICS, Scalar, QAD,Fourshift, FrontStep who have already rooted in Chinesemarket for several years. They are not as well known astheir bigger peers but perhaps better off in a market ofgreat potential. For example, Scala has more than 300contracted clients, outnumbering any other competitor. During the two decades since China initiate its greatreform, numerous companies has been burgeoning in Chineseeastern coastal regions where the manufacturing sector hasbeen incorporated into the global economy. Comparedwith those big potatoes such as China Petrol, ChinaMobile, Legend and Haier, these enterprises with annualrevenue between $10 million and $100 million are middleclass guys. Competent as they look like, these mediumsized companies are short of effective management meanssupported by robust information technology. However, after China's entry into WTO, these manufacturers willgain more opportunities to supply international marketwith products or even become a key link of global mar-keting chain. Therefore, these manufactures need to beable to coordinate with oversea partners by reformingtheir information systems to meet the international stan-dard. As a result, those medium-sized ERP vendors arethe best choice of these Chinese enterprises.
